Case Closed

Today Mrs Taaffe came in and confessed that she did the crime in our Whetu classroom. Mrs Taaffe said that she came to school on Saturday the 10th of October to drop some work off at school. Mrs Taaffe's computer has been having some issues so she came into Whetu and took the dongle she saw the jar of milky ways for our star buck draw since she loves mini chocolates she got so tempted that she took a few. She heard someone so she rushed out of the classroom and dropped some milky way bars on the floor. She went to exit the classroom and then the door got jammed so Mrs Taaffe pushed the door and so the door got a little crack in it. Mrs Taaffe left the room and ran out to the front of the office. She then stopped behind a bush to see if the door closed. She then left to go to the petrol station to get a few things and then went to the hairdressers.

Letter Of The Week

This week for letter of the week the letter was C. We had to research some words to fill up our piece of paper or our google drawing page. My tongue twister was The Chicken Checkers Ought To Check The Chickens That The Chicken Catchers Caught. I worked very hard to make my work a supernova even though it took a long time to do it. I think this weeks Letter of the week is my best one so far because it has a lot of detail and I took my time with searching up good words for what I am describing. I am very proud of my work and can't wait for next week.

Lifting Finger Prints

This week for rotations I was in Mrs Kennedy group. We were lifting our finger prints of the window with dusting powder. I lifted my thumb ant it was a loop. We also used a special brush that directives use. At first we used some corn flour but it didn't show the finger print very well so we used some dusting powder. We worked in buddy's, my buddy was Brianna. when we were waiting to lift our finger prints we went on CSI Web Adventures The Experience and did the Handwriting Analysis.

Finger Prints

This week for our rotation with Mrs Kennedy we were printing our own finger prints with these ink pads that a police officer gave to Mrs Kennedy. There are three main finger print patterns, 1.loop 2.whorl 3.arch. I have no arches, 8 loops, and 2 whorls. Were we kept our finger prints were on this Fantastic Fingerprints sheet and on it, it tells you that koalas have finger prints very similar to humans that they could be a confused at a crime scene.when we were printing our fingerprints we had to use one side of the ink pad and the other side was for your buddy then you would have to wipe of some of the ink on a piece of paper and put the finger print piece paper on the edge of the table then start on one edge of your finger and work your way to the other so that you can see your whole finger print and if you were in a crime scene the police would be able to tell you finger print. I can't wait for next weeks finger printing session.

Chapter Chat

This week for chapter chat I made a new book cover for wink. I like the old cover but I still like my one. I love my chapter chat. I worked by myself and I worked very hard on my chapter chat because I wanted it to be a supernova and have lots of detail and colour to make it pop.

Maths Mystery

This week for the Maths Mystery we had to figure out who the missing Emoji was. I worked by myself and It was way easier then last week because I was able to do the work by myself without anyone distracting me. The missing emoji was yellow happy smiling emoji and it looks like an angel. I liked this weeks maths mystery better then last weeks because I like emojis and this weeks was easier. I love the maths mystery and hope Mrs Kennedy lets us do it again in term four. I can't wait for next term.

The mystery of the Astronaut

This week for the Literacy mystery I worked by myself. I only got stuck on the first question but luckily Mrs Kennedy showed us what to do at the beginning of homeroom time. This is the first time that I have worked alone for a mystery but I feel proud of myself. This weeks Mystery was way easier then last weeks mystery and It helped my learn a lot of words and how to spell the hard words. I can't wait for next term.

Sunday, 20 September 2020

Letter of the week

This week for the letter of the week was M. This week was a lot easier then last weeks letter because lots of words start with M that I know. I like letter of the week because it dose not take up a lot of time if I focus on only doing letter of the week. I do my letter of the week o Monday because It is quit easy to do. Letter of the week is quit similar to number of the day just you don't have to do it ever day. I think my tongue twister is very hard. My tongue twister is Mummies munch much mush; Monsters munch much mush; many mummies and monsters must munch much mush.I love letter of the week and hope we do it next term too.

Cooking Reflection

This week it was my turn to do cooking. We made vegetable soup. I brought silver beat and in the morning I had to chop it up. On the first day we went over the safety rules, On the second day we chopped up the veg's and did a word find and a quiz, and On the third day we ate the soup. The soup was soo good and I really want to do cooking again. The reason why my eyes look weird in the photo is because I was closing my eyes when the photo was taken  so I went on google drawings and made myself some eyes.

Maths Mystery

This week for maths mystery I worked with Jasmine like last week just I forgot to put my Maths mystery on my blog last week. This weeks maths mystery was way easier then last week. The hardest part was answering the 5th clue because we had to so three different things. The easiest part was clue 2 input and output. I feel like the maths mystery is way easier then the literacy mystery because I am better at maths then literacy and I can't tell the difference of some  words because they all sound the same. I am soooooo exited for next weeks Maths Mystery.

Literacy Mystery

This week for the Literacy Mystery I worked with Sophie. The Mystery was way harder then last week. I liked the mystery this week because It was about running races and I love running races. The person that stole the medals was Claire White. The hardest part was Clue number 3 because I can't tell the difference between their and they're. I love literacy mystery and can't wait for next week the last week of term 3.

Te Wiki o te Reo Maori Challenge

This week It Is Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori week. Since It Is Te Reo Maori Week we are doing A Maori challenge were we choose a phrase then we have to make it in to a cool google, slide google doc or google slides. I did a google drawing because I am very good at using all the shapes and links and also putting photos on it. The phrase I chose was Kia Kaha E Hoa Ma, Let's Go Team. Why I chose that phrase was because before ever rugby game we do a cheer and I love rugby. It took quit a while to say the pronunciation right but after 3 to 4 minutes I got it and Brianna helped me video it. I love Te Reo Maori and want to learn more of the Maori Language.

Letter Of The Week

This week we did something new. We had a new Whoogle and at the top was all our must do's. My first must do I did was Letter of the week witch is new for us but not new for Fred the moth because Fred the moth has been doing it for the whole term. Mrs Loft but some examples of some of the Fred the moth letters of the week. The hardest part of the letter of the week was making the tongue twister. My tongue twister was GRACE GREW GREECE GRAPES. The  easiest part was getting all the pictures. I Love Letter Of The Week and I really want to do it again next week.

For our opt-in workshops this week we have been doing Rad Rhythm. I have learnt about beat and Rhythm. Different notes and how long to play for. I have enjoyed going into groups and playing to lots of different songs, Like my group played to Savage love, the cup song, and a song Jasmine and Chrysler's group made up for one of our Whetu challenge's called Coke Is Fizzy. I cant wait for next weeks Opt-In Workshops.

Zoo Inquiry

This term for Inquiry Whetu have been researching about zoos. We have been going in our learning constellation groups and doing different activities. At the end our different activities teachers told us that we have to present our work in some way. I choose to make a poster because I like drawing and I want to put it somewhere around the town. I think that zoos are a good place for animals because they can't get hurt in there enclosure but they can get hurt in the wild. Our main question was Should animals be kept in zoos?

Cross Country Reflection

 Cross Country Reflection 2020

This year I participated in the NPS Cross Country held at school on the Ngatea Domain.  I ran in the 9 year old age group.

I am most proud of coming second in the 9 year old cross country because last year I came seventh in the eight year old group and I versed the same people this year and I also made it into Hauraki Plains Cross Country.

I think my effort towards our training at school was very helpfully especially because we had to run on the Ngatea Domain since of Covid 19.

I showed the Learning Power of Resilience by not giving up even though I found it hard to breath and I ran on the hard rocks.

Maths Mahi

This week for Maths Mahi I answered 9 questions and they were all correct. I got a little bit of help with the Proportions and Ratios bye Mrs Kennedy because I could not really under stand what we had to do. I had to use tape to stick the nets together because the glue would not stick and it was way easier. I am very proud of my work and can't wait for next week.

Whetu Cartoon Drawing Challenge

This week for our Whetu Challenge Whetu had to get into there learning constellation groups, choose a cartoon film that was on the google slide. My learning group choose Mickey mouse because we all liked the way everyone looked and we a nice thought it was quit hard and we were well most off us were experts at google drawings. I loved our Whetu challenge because I am good at art and I like art sooo much. I hope we do another challenge like this next week. My whole learning group finished but not cody because he  thought it was very hard.

Monday madness writing

This week for my Monday madness writing I wrote about my weekend. What I did in the weekend was I got to be chief for one day, what a chief for one day is, is you run the ball out onto the field, sit with the chiefs in there dugout, Get five free tickets, get a $30 food and beverage voucher, And get a shout out on the big screen. It was sooooo fun because I made a new friend Quinn he was one of the rugby players. We also saw our friends Joe and Inia and they were right next to us. When we went to our seats it said saved for our chief for one day a VIP lifetime opportunity for kids. I had a very fun day and am sooooo spoilt.

Week 3 Maths Mahi

This week for Whetu's Maths Mahi we had to answer three Times Tables questions, Three division questions, And Three Proportions & Ratios questions. It Was quit hard because it was hard question not like last week because Mrs Kennedy put the same question on all the leveled learning teams witch made it easy for some people and hard for some people. This week she put a hard ones for all the groups and not all hard ones and not all easy ones it was in the middle. For our investigation we had to get a picture with a dotted background and you had to draw the same thing on the other side witch is called Symmetrical.

Egg Drop Challege

This week for the Whetu Challege we had to make something that could hold an egg and not make it crack when you drop it from the grand stand.

In my group was Tayla K, Katelyn B, And I. I think we worked well together because we used teamwork and didn't fight or complain when we did something wrong or not right.

Our egg did not crack. I don't think It cracked because we made a nest with the sock covered the top in newspaper and had a parachute so it would go down slowly.

How we made our creation was we first made the parachute then we made the nest then we attached everything together.

Her is a photo of us holding our creation.

Matariki stars

This week Whetu had to draw and colour in Matariki stars.

The hardest part was cutting out the stars because when I was cutting the stars out the puzzle piece bit kept ripping of the star to attach it to the big Matariki piece.

The easiest part was drawing all the different details in the stars because if I put my mind to something I finish it and make it good and colourful

The dog I drew looks Fat, angry, and cheeky.

I think my work is a supernova because I took my time and it pops and is all coloured in.

Finished Matariki Jigsaw

This week Pekapeka got the rest of our Matariki jigsaw pieces to finish out puzzle. I was quit happy on how it turned out because it went in a pattern of cold colours then hot colours. The thing that i did not like about making my Jigsaw is that the jigsaw puzzle that you had to write the Matariki Whakatau key on it was the wrong colour so I drew on top of the red orange and yellow and then it turned out in a brown ugly colour so I ripped my paper into pieces and chucked it in the bin then I realised that i do not have that piece for my puzzle so I decided to draw my own but i did not just draw it how I think it is I drawn but I actually traced another puzzle piece that is the same shape and size that it is supposed to be and coloured it in purple, blue, and pink so now my puzzle looks amazing.

Week 12 Blog Challenge

This week for the blog challenge we had to write about our dream holiday. I liked writing about my dream holiday because Nana and Poppa went to Thailand and said that it was amazing and you can ride elephants and have lots of good food. They also said that the hotels there are so big and the treatment and people there and lovely.  It was also fun to look at cool pictures of Thailand because all the pictures that they take are soo good and they have lots of fun and yummy things in Thailand.

Term 2 Reflection

This week it is the last week of school so we have to do a reflection of term 2. it was kind of easy because I love school and I love ever thing we do at school especially maths because I just love working out equations and I love adding numbers together. The hard part about the reflection was that all the options/workshops are soo fun. Term 2 and 1 has been so fun and interesting and can't wait for term 3 and 4 ( keep up the amazing work Whetu teachers)

Maths mystery

This week Jasmine, Kiarna, Brianna, and I did the maths mystery together. It was different to all the other maths mystery's because you had to solve a code and you did not have a suspect list and you did not put your answer in the draw. The maths mystery was kind of hard because there was a lot of take away of big numbers like 89 - 70 = and that was hard. It was easy because all the people I worked with were good at times tables and there were quit a few time table questions.

Egg Carton Challenge

This week for our Whetu Challenge we created something using egg cartons.
I decided to make a rubbish tree because I Noticed a lot of rubbish when I walk or go in the car.
The Materials I used was egg cartons, coloured paper, sharpie, Velcro, double sided tape, paint,
glue gun, and cardboard.
The hardest part was gluing the tree to the base, I think why it did not really stick to the base was
because the tree trunk was very bendy.
The easiest part was painting the tree and the base.
I love my work and know it is a super nova.

Week 11 blog challenge

This week for Whetu's blog challenge you had to recreate your bedroom our your classroom. I choose to do my bedroom because it has always been my dream to recreate my bedroom. I love how my room turned out because it turned out exactly how I wanted it to. The easiest part was placing all the stuff in my room because there was no background in the picture so you could see what was behind the stuff, And the hardest part was putting the lollies in the bowl because the picture of lollies that I found was square. Here is my room.

Matariki Jigsaw Puzzle

This week for writing Whetu had to Write about Matariki. The teacher gave you four puzzle piece's to answer some questions and next week we get four more puzzle pieces to make our finale puzzle. Mrs Kennedy wanted Pekapeka witch is my homeroom to colour in the puzzle pieces to make it a supernova. I coloured my puzzles piece;s in with pink, purple, blue, red, yellow, and orange to make my puzzle piece's pop. I think this is my best work this year and I am very proud of it. Here Is a photo of my work (not my finished project)

True or false Matariki

This week For reading Whetu had to write about Matariki. There was questions and you had to tick if the question was true or false. You also had to answer two questions that was at the top the were 1. When is Matariki due to begin inn 2020 and 2. what is the name given to the central star in the cluster. My answers were July the 13th and Matariki. I choose false twice and true four times.

Whetu Paper Planes

Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece of
paper to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it.

Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be hard because every time I make a
paper air plane it dose not work out.

I decided to use the design of the Air New Zealand logo with a silver fern at the back.

The hardest part was making the shape and drawing the air NZ logo and fern.

During our competition time I managed to score 15 points because I only got two turns before Mrs
Kennedy blow the whistle to say OK the people who got it in the hanger stand up, OK you are
all in the finals.

Week 10 maths mystery

This week I did the Math Mystery by myself at home because I had no time to do it at school. It was easy because I had a printer at home, so I could print the suspects list. It was hard because I had to work by myself without anybody helping me, but my Mum's friend Eve did help me the teeeeeenised bit. I think the pencil case thief was Ruby because she goes to school in a car, has light hair, is a female, likes netball, and eats cherry's.

Week 10 Sick sentences

This week we also did the same writing activity but with a different picture( if you read my last post). The picture was a snail coming out of a strawberry and there was green moss at the bottom of the picture. It  was hard but easy, why it was easy was because there were a lot of things in the picture and why it was hard was because there was a lot of stuff in the picture but you couldn't really see all the items.

Birthday Card Designing

This week for the Whetu blog challenge we had to make a cover for a birthday card because Mr Fraser and Miss Coles want new birthday cards. There were a couple of rules 1 It has to say Happy Birthday on it somewhere 2 it has to have lots of bright colour's. On my birthday card it says happy birthday and he aroha whakato he aroha puta ma if kindness is sown then kindness you shall receive has a cake that is dripping with candles on it and the background is purple blue and pink that is blended.

Synthesis Eggs (White Whales)

This week for my Synthesis Eggs I researched facts about white whales. Animals are not quit my thing to research about I would rather research about sport. I know that my work is a supernova because I worked super hard on it and took my time to make it perfect. The reason why I have hardly anything on the per knowledge section is because I don't really know anything about white whales. I am soo proud of my work and can't wait for my mum and dad to see my work.

Tuesday, 9 June 2020

Sick sentences

This week we also did the same writing activity but with a different picture( if you read my last post) The Picture was a brown owl and a little black and yellow bee. I think well I know that my work is a supernova because I took my time (not like other people who rushed) I would still do it again because it is fun and helps your eyesight and helps you write bigger and better sentence's. I have learned that writing is fun and helps you learn a lot of cool stuff. Here is the photo we had to write about.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1z5aGxCb7YglnooYO9tTT6pHLRivObqtVYVfOtOH36sk/edit#slide=id.p

Synthesis Eggs (Fainting Goats)

This week we did the same reading challenge but we wrote about something different. I wrote about fainting goats (But I didn't really know anything about Fainting goats)it was really interesting because as you know I do not know anything about fainting goats. It Is Verry Cool how some goats faint and some don't because we are humans and we all faint at some point Because I have never fainted in my life witch tells me I am probably going to faint When I am older. I choose Fainting goats to write about because deviled horned caterpillars sound scary and weird and I kind of already know about weather and in my satisfaction, I think fainting goats are actually pretty cool.

Ultimate Playground Logo

Today I Made a logo for my ultimate playground. What we have to do is you have to draw a new good playground that you think people with enjoy. You also have to make a logo and a name for your playground as it might be our new playground. The reason why we are doing this is because the big blue is taken down (if you do not know what the big blue is it is a big playground with a big blue slide) My Playground name is ZIG ZAG STARS. why it is called that is because I took zig zag paths to make my ultimate playground and why it has stars at the end is because I am a star for making a good and fun playground (well I think I am a star for achieving It :) I Think I am a supernova because I took my time as some people rushed to get it done first. I also like the activity because not only is it fun and interesting but it is also helping you learn. (here are some subjects you used to finish the work Art you had to draw a playground and design a logo And Math to figure out the measurements of your playground)

This week for the mats mystery we had to figure out who stole the pancakes. I worked with Jordanlee because she has always been sooooooooo nice every day and we just keep being nice to each other. Jordanlee and I Think That the pancake thief is Seb because he is wearing a hat is a male is wearing trainers is nine years old and loves fruit on his pancakes.
